The best time to visit Sapa rice fields is from July until the beginning of September. At the beginning of June, the local people will start to plant sapa rice fields in the villages. If you are planning to visit Sapa at this time of the Year you will be able to see the Hmong ethnic minority group plan their rice fields. All the sapa rice fields belong to the local people who live in the villages. The rice they grow in the villages is not for sale only for the family uses it.

The Muong Hoa Valley has the most beautiful sapa rice fields and famous place for international tourists to visit and do trekking with a local guide. In August you will see the valley is very colourful and greens, this season of the year the weather will be hot and rainy. Sapa’s rainy season is from July until September. Occasionally either rainy in the morning, afternoon or all night time, it can be very heavy rains like 2-3 hours and stop the rain. It’s not dangerous when you do the trek during the rainy season. There will be some landslides when it heavy rains but not flooding.
From the end of September until the beginning of June, there are emtypy sapa rice fields. During this time of the year if you are planning to visit the sapa rice fields then you will not be able to see the rice fields. It’s getting cold and the local people only plant the rice fields once a year.
